On April 7th, 2024, 21-year-old Jaaden Steward unexpectedly passed away in his sleep due to a seizure. Jaaden developed seizures at the age of 20 following a traumatic car accident that took place in Feb. 2023. After seeing a neurologist and undergoing several tests it was determined that his seizures were brought on by stress and anxiety due to the accident. Though he was never officially diagnosed with Epilepsy his seizure and death mimicked SUDEP, (the sudden unexpected death in epilepsy.). Therefore this page was created to honor Jaaden and bring awareness to SUDEP. Every year, more than 1 in 1,000 people in the US with epilepsy will die from SUDEP.On the day Jaaden passed, he had planned a kickball event for all the kids in his congregation. Jaaden had a big heart and was inclusive towards all. Standing at 6'4 and 250 lbs, Jaaden was passionately nicknamed "Porkchop" and the "Gentile Giant," by his friends and family.
On November 16th, friends, family, and supporters of the epilepsy community will gather for a day filled with kickball games, food trucks, and activities that the whole family can enjoy all in the honor of Jaaden Steward. Proceeds from the day will be donated to the Epilepsy Foundation Charity to aid in SUDEP research and awareness. Come out and enjoy a day of fun in support of a great cause!
