A visual world tour showcasing some of the greatest cave mineral discoveries from 44 countries, featuring some of the most exotic, aesthetic, and remarkable examples known to date. Drawing on images from over half a century of projects – including expeditions to some of the most remote frontiers – this presentation explores current understandings of how and why these formations develop.
The focus is not on typical cave formations, but on the most bizarre and impressive specimens discovered so far. Kevin Downey presents selections from his award-winning photographic work, which has been featured in numerous books, magazines, and exhibitions. The talk also delves into new ideas, ongoing research, and the importance of conservation.
