Here we are 20 years after the founding of Kettle Art Gallery, still entrenched ‘Deep in the Art of Ellum’. What began as a simple effort to bring positive energy back to the neighborhood, following the closures of iconic venues like the Gypsy Tea Room, Trees, and the Green Room, has grown into a defining moment in our story.What started as a generous offer from a property owner to a community-minded creative has, over time, evolved into an award-winning, high quality art gallery recognized for its unique voice. What initially seemed easy, just hang a few pieces and flip on some lights, quickly became a full-time endeavor. From curating complementary artists and juggling exhibition schedules to promoting events and welcoming the public, it’s been a labor of love in a setting that's both laid back and strikingly beautiful.
Our only goal back then? To knock the stuffing out of stuffy art galleries. We wanted to champion local talent and street art that, at the time, were vastly underrepresented. Two decades later, that same spirit still drives everything we do.
In celebration, on Saturday November 22, 4 to 7pm, we are having Twentieth Anniversary exhibition featuring ‘the Instigators’ who have contributed consistently throughout the years. Artists include Mark S. Nelson, Cathey Miller, Justin Clumpner, Corey Godfrey-Moulton, Richard Ross, Katrina Rasmussen, Nick Glenn, Erin Curry, Mahsa Moein, Beverly Parson White, Jamie Walters, Marc Dominus, Melanie Hardy Campbell, Jason Janik, Judith Lea Perkins, William Bubba Flint, Candice Lindsay, Sandra Boskamp, and many more.
