Welcome Home!
Facebook won't allow us to create an 18-day event (weird, right?), so we are breaking this bad-boy into a series of three consecutive events.
The first part of Kerrville is always the most exciting! Everyone is feeling fresh and ready for a world of music-filled days and nights. It's also a holiday weekend with Memorial Day Monday, so this makes it an especially attractive getaway and an opportunity to unplug with friends and family.
Day 1: Thursday, May 23
Settle in and get comfy! Our first evening concert kicks off with Topo Chico Cowboys (Josh Grider and Drew Kennedy), followed by Dallas songwriter Kamica King, then Joe King Carrasco brings the PARTY, and Donovan Keith closes out the night.
Day 2: Friday, May 24
It's always a great day when you wake up at Kerrville! Grab a coffee at the Kerrtry Store, maybe hit the river (or join Bill Oliver on the Canoe Trip benefitting our Teen Music Camp), hang around the campground and check out the Mayors Meeting, and then make your way to the Kennedy Theater for our second evening concert! Canadian songwriter Scott Cook starts it off, followed by POWERHOUSE 2023 New Folk winner Flamy Grant, then the incredible John Fullbright will take the stage before the long-awaited return of Kerrville Folk Festival favorite Ruthie Foster closing out the night!
Day 3: Saturday, May 25
Your Saturday could begin with Yoga on the Kennedy stage, or bring the kiddos to a show that's just for them with Strawbitty Yops at the Threadgill Theater. The first day of our New Folk Competition begins at 1pm as one half of our 24 Finalists perform on the Threadgill Stage. After that, our evening concert kicks off at 7pm with John Flynn, followed by Texas songwriter LEGEND Mr. Ray Wylie Hubbard, then a memorable performance by none other than Iris Dement, and guitar goddess Sue Foley will bring down the house to wrap up a very special Saturday night!
Day 4: Sunday, May 26
You gotta love a Sunday morning at Kerrville! Start your day off with a Meditation Session or a Nature Walk with Howie Richey, and then another morning show for the kids with Strawbitty Yops! The second half of our New Folk Finalists will perform on the Threadgill Stage from 1-4pm, and the evening concert features another set of four stellar songwriters: Mary Bragg, Susan Werner, Vance Gilbert, and Amythyst Kiah! After main stage is over, be sure to check out Amy Sue's Late Night show at Threadgill with Jacksonport, Sabine McCalla, Passiflora, and Landon Lloyd Miller.
Day 5: Monday, May 27
Good morning, Memorial Day. Weekdays at Kerrville are a little slower, and we usually spend the first Monday reflecting on the weekend and remembering those who are no longer with us. Whether you are spending the day in our Songwriter's School, or joining Richard Lappin for his "Loss, Healing, and the Power of Song" session at Serenity Square, we hope this Monday brings you a moment of peace at the Festival. Our Foundation Members should attend the Membership Meeting at Threadgill from 1-3pm, where we will be voting for new KFFF Board Members. After that, we will begin building the Memorial for our lost loved-ones at Threadgill. We will have a communal shrine set up and invite you to place a photo on the board along with any remembrance items you want on the tables. Maybe it is a beer or a particular tequila; maybe it is a special KFF T-shirt; or perhaps it is just a rock from a particular campsite. Everyone is welcome to participate. The evening concert at Threadgill will feature performances honoring those who have passed. If you are interested in participating with a song, poem, or story please contract us by email at [email protected].
Day 6: Tuesday, May 28
We are only a third of the way through the Festival! Can you believe it?! Our Songwriting Schools and Guitar Wokshops are happening during the day, and our Sundown Concert at Threadgill Theater features a great couple of performances with songwriting duo Miles and Mafale starting off the night, followed by the notoriously talented Steve Seskin.
Stay tuned for parts 2 and 3 as we walk you through the highlights of the 2024 Kerrville Folk Festival!
