Our plant-based (great for you, great for the planet!) supper clubs at Crane continue with Kerala Dreams, an ensemble of fresh, nourishing and absolutely delicious Ayurvedic-inspired dishes from the Sizzling South of the Indian subcontinent.
Be transported to the backwaters of Kerala for an evening and indulge in a specially curated Kerala-inspired Ayurvedic meal. It is 100% vegan, full of vitality and will wow you with the use of native vegetables and wild plants from the region. Put together by Medicine Woman Asia Ajuntha Anwari, the food will be served on a banana leaf and you will be encouraged to eat with your hands to make it tastier! The menu is as follows:
To Start:
Coconut buttermilk: An ayurvedic digestive drink made from coconut yoghurt blended with turmeric leaf and powder, curry leaf, ginger, lime, green chili and sea salt
Kerala welcome: A taste of the backwaters with a bite of pumpkin stewed in coconut water and a sprinkling of spice-mix cashew, sesame, mango powder and curry leaf
Mains on Banana Leaf:
Spiced rice: Steamed basmati rice spiced with black sesame, fenugreek, mustard seeds, turmeric, cumin and cinnamon
Moringa leaves sothi: Superfood moringa leaves cooked in coconut milk with ginger and spices
Sambar Kerala: Lentil and vegetable curry flavoured with tomato, curry leaf and tamarind
Sprout salad with snake gourd: Health salad made with fresh green and black gram sprouts, with blanched snake gourd. Dressing of roasted spiced coconut, chili, lime and honey
Curry leaf and mint chutney: Urad dahl, tamarind and dried chili combined with mint leaves for a piquant chutney
Sweet endings: Jaggery and Masala Chai
Tickets are $75/pax or $140/pair. Due to prevailing safe management measures, only vaccinated attendees would be allowed to dine in groups of up to 2 people. Book early to avoid disappointment.
About the chef
Ajuntha Anwari, Medicine Woman Asia, has over 40 years of experience in horticulture, health and wellness. She is well versed in the indigenous healing traditions of Jamu and Ayurvedic, and is a strong proponent of a living foods. Through a meal with her - diners will get to understand some of the healing qualities of food that give life and vitality.
