About this Event
Kenny Stinson as been performing professionally in the Bluegrass Circuit for over thirty years now. At the age of 16, Kenny signed a major recording contract to sing Southern Bluegrass Gospel music with his family. After touring and recording ten projects Kenny decided to go in a different direction.
It was in 1996 that Kenny began working for Gary Brewer playing bass and singing baritone. He left Gary to play for the King of Bluegrass, Jimmy Martin, also playing bass and backing up the King with his baritone vocals. Jimmy stated, “ Kenny was the best baritone I have had since J. D. Crowe.” After touring with the King for a season in 1998 Kenny started playing with Gary Waldrip. Kenny likes to say “he was taken to school” and learned how to really entertain a crowd by the one master. While performing with Gary, Kenny polished his skills, and in 1999 moved on to play with a long time friend, Dayle Eskridge and became a member of “Dayle Eskridge and Changing Times,” playing his all time favorite, the mandolin. The wind of change blew through again and Kenny found himself working for James Monroe. He was James’ right hand man assisting with the business side of the Bluegrass music business as well as playing and singing. After
six years Kenny decided he needed to take a break from the music business and focus on his young family. The love of Bluegrass music was in his blood and could not lie dormant for long, so in 2008 Kenny realized it was time to fulfilling that life long dream of having his own band. Kenny stated, “I have found some of the best pickers and singers in the business. Individuals who want to play Bluegrass the way I feel it. My music is different, and they know where I’m coming from.” Kenny believes that everything has a place and God always works things out in His own timing hence the band name “KENNY STINSON & PERFECT TYM’N.”
