On Thursday, September 25th at 6:00 p.m., Ken Christie will discuss and sign "Tales of Arbor Heights" and "Tales of Westside".---
These are tales of the numerous adventures of Dean Nichol, set during the summer of 1969. By many accounts, his young life was considered fairly normal, but that is from the outside looking in. There was a lot going on that warranted his attention: the reanimated frog, the explosives, pink radishes, the greatest game, the trip of a lifetime, the big fight and, of course, what happened between Dean and his first love, Robin Harris, the girl with the golden flowing hair.
"Tales of Westside" carries that journey forward through high school and into young adulthood. With Dean seeing the world, getting tangled up with ROTC, navigating dates and relationships, surviving betrayals, and almost getting blown away, his teenage experience was anything but ordinary. Told with humor and heart, these stories capture the unpredictable ride from adolescence to young adulthood. Some lessons come easy, others knock you flat, but in the end they all make for an unforgettable journey.
Before diving into full-time writing, Ken Christie built a successful career as a marketer, consultant, and business owner, lending his expertise to professional books and industry journals. Storytelling was never far behind. Prior to the Tales series, Ken authored the "Whackopedia – A Compendium of All Things Whacky in the World Today And Those Who Need a Whack Upside the Head for Their Stupidity" because sometimes the world simply begs for a reality check. "Tales of Westside" is his third book, his second novel, and definitely not his last. More stories are in the works.
