Biergarten StageKen's Bio:
I have been playing guitar and singing for about 54 years. It still makes me feel good each time I see the faces of people enjoying being entertained. It doesn’t matter if it is one person or thousands: when they are enjoying the performance, so am I.
One highlight of my career was winning the United States Yodeling Championship Contest held in Kerrville, Texas in 1977. I held the title through the following two contests in ’78 & ’79. In 1980 I retained the title once again because no one challenged me, so I was requested to retire from competition to rebuild participation in the contest. The contest was moved to Nebraska and last I heard, was still going strong. I have continued to entertain throughout Texas and neighboring
states occasionally. I perform at a lot of the “opry” type shows all over Texas. I also perform for many other events. During my career, I have made five recordings. First: A private demo label in Houston, Texas. Second: The 1979 Kerrville Folk Festival
Album. Third: a 45-rpm single on the Joey label in San Antonio, Texas. Fourth: A “cassingle”: a two-song tape for radio air play. A Christmas song I wrote called, “Santa Cattle Call”. It was played on
several radio stations in Texas. Fifth: A cassette tape of 12 songs I had written. The cassette was titled “My Own Songs”. I sold these at the shows and performances, until I sold all I had. In early 1999 I was asked to yodel in a Texas Tourism television commercial. It received air play throughout the United States and also internationally. This was a fun experience, and it opened a different world for me. I enjoy entertaining people. Just give me an opportunity and I’ll leave

I have also had a wonderful 23-year career working for the Lower Colorado River Authority in Austin/LaGrange, Texas, in their electrical
maintenance field, planning and scheduling work.
