The spirit of Kelp Kabobs is to invite people to swim bike and run for free and for fun. We want to remind people that Triathlons are fun, they're about community and they're not as scary as you think. You are welcome to swim, bike and run or any combo of the three you want to do. In the true spirit of Kelp Kabob, we like to eat, and spend time with the community! Feel free to bring a snack to share at the potluck
Please bring refillable water-bottles and reusable plates/forks
Awards and Raffle
The awards will be at 9:30am and we’ll start the raffle then. Please get your raffle ticket at check-in before the race. Many of our sponsors who contributed to the raffle will have booths at the event.
Timeline of events
6:30am-7:05am Check in (bib pick-up), & transition set-up
7:15am- Transition "closes"
7:20am Course Talk down at the beach
7:30am Race Start
9:30am Awards, Raffle & Potluck (if the participants are all finished with the run before 9:30 we will start earlier)
Course
Swim – 2 laps - The swim course will start on the beach and go out around the buoys. Then the swimmers will swim back to the beach run down the beach and go out again on the same swim route. When you finish the second lap go into transition.
Bike- Riders should exist transition and walk or run their bikes to the mount line which is on the south-end of the park. There will be a volunteer at the mount line. Please don’t get on your bike until after you’ve crossed the mount line. The bike is an out and back. The bike course is an open course along the bike path. There will be other cyclist on the bike path. Please be courteous and aware of other riders. If you want to go faster please ride on the road. Helmets are Mandatory.
Run- The run course is about 3.1 miles north of Glorietta bay along the side walk to the turn around point at the beginning of the golf course and back.

There will be volunteers and swim buddies helping throughout the race. Give them a high five! There will be 1 water station along the run course.
Parking
Park in front of Glorietta Bay Park, in front of the Coronado Community Center and along Silver Strand.
Give yourself extra time in the morning to find parking as we expect a large amount of awesome athletes just like you!
Bathrooms & Outdoor Showers
Bathrooms and outdoor showers are located on both sides of the park (walking distance)

This is a free event, but with any free event there are still costs such as permits and insurance. Any donation is always appreciated to keep our Kelp Kabob yearly triathlon tradition going. (Venmo @Shelsea-Hodge) or cash/ check accepted at event or training workouts.
