About the Author:
Kelly Rice Schmitt is a mom in STEAM writing for curious kids of all ages! She loves getting little humans excited about BIG ideas and believes that children are often far more capable than grown-ups assume. Kelly writes to spark curiosity, courage, and joy in readers and loves books that trust the remarkable ability of the growing child mind. After beginning her career in the competitive, male-dominated world of energy trading, Kelly felt compelled to advocate for girls in STEM, business, and other fields with gender gaps. Combining her love of writing with her STEAM background, Kelly creates books to inspire the next generation of leaders and innovators!
Kelly holds a B.B.A in Finance and Chinese from the University of Notre Dame (Go Irish!) where she also sang and performed in musicals. She is a 2020 #PBchat mentee, Grub Street scholarship recipient, and active member of SCBWI and the 12x12 Challenge. Born and raised in the Chicago suburbs, Kelly has also lived in the Midwestern, Northeastern, and Southern United States and even in China. Today she can be found in North Carolina helping other traders grow their businesses, writing for children, and exploring, singing, and creating with her husband and young children.
