About this Event
Join The Hope Center on October 16, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM for Kellogg Cares, a community day dedicated to tackling food insecurity in Blue Island, a recognized food desert. Volunteers will help plant fruit trees for local families, assemble garden beds, and fill them with mulch for our greenhouse.
This is a family-friendly event—kids and adults alike can take part in planting, decorating garden signs, and learning about growing healthy food.
If it rains, the work continues indoors—maintaining our hydroponics, aquaponics, and makers kitchen spaces by cleaning machines and disinfecting food production rooms to prepare for harvest. Lunch will be provided after the event as we celebrate making a tangible impact together.
Lunch will be provided from 12noon -1pm*
