Artist Bios
Cuban trumpet virtuoso Miguelito Valdes came to international fame touring with the Buena Vista Social Club and the Afro-Cuban All-Stars. As a jazz musician, Miguelito has shared the stage with artists such as Herbie Hancock, Danilo Pérez, Brian Blade, Wayne Shorter, and many more.
Roy Styffe has been at the forefront of Canadian jazz saxophone for over 30 years — a lyrical improviser whose style blends the melodicism of Paul Desmond, the playfulness of Cannonball Adderley, and the depth of John Coltrane.
Pianist Dr. Tony Genge has been a mainstay of the Canadian jazz scene for decades, teaching, performing, and composing at the highest level with artists including Roberta Gambarini, Jeff Hamilton, Russ Botten, and Neil Swainson.
Left-handed electric bassist Peter Dowse brings his deep sense of groove and collaboration to the forefront in this dynamic rhythm section and long-standing musical partnership.
Drummer Kelby MacNayr has performed across North America with artists such as George Colligan, Louise Rose, John Clayton, Ian McDougall, and more. A celebrated drummer in all styles and a highly regarded composer and bandleader, MacNayr treasures most the connection of spirit and energy between performers and audience.
