Born in Tokyo, Keiko began piano lessons at age five and studied at the prestigious Yamaha Music Foundation. She crafts passionate, emotive, and timeless music colored with rich harmonies and global rhythms - blending traditional Japanese sounds with contemporary jazz, smooth jazz, and New Age music.
In the words of Duke Ellington, Keiko Matsui is "beyond category."
A master storyteller who creates music from a deeply spiritual place. "I unconsciously receive inspiration from the things around me," Keiko explains.
