About this Event
Start your keiki in martial arts this summer!
Starting at 8 years old, children start to be come more coordinated and able to follow instructions. This is the time to introduce martial concepts as a foundation to sports and movement in general.
Reinforcing good character traits, gently enforcing desicipline and introducing proper technique is primary role of the instructor or Sensei. Your child will learn to move correctly via martial exercises. Your child will learn to participate and develop focus that will carry over to any martial art or sport.
Each class will consist of the following:
Arrival ettiquitte and dressing for class
Circle up for greetings and class instructions from the instructor or Sensei
Athletic movements and calethenics led by the instructor or Sensei
Martial drills - non-contact striking, kicking, stances and rolls with emphasis on correct form
Martial Exercises - techniques from a wide variety of the martial arts world. Techinques are demonstrated and performed on the instructor or Sensei. With the instructor/Sensei being the "receiver" of the technique, students avoid injury and the instructor/Sensei directly monitors the quality of the technique.
Recap, feedback and homework- the instructor/Sensei provides a review of the techniques performed, makes recommendations for improvement and guidance on what to practice at home and how to practice.
