Join us on Tuesday, January 27 as the Kegley Lecture Series returns with a fascinating look at the early history of scouting in Roanoke. During the first half of the 20th century, scouting played a vital role in shaping leadership, outdoor skills, and civic pride among local youth. This lecture will explore the origins of Roanoke’s scout council and highlight troop activities during its first decade.The program will be presented by Stephen Warren, a past president of the Historical Society of Western Virginia and founder of the Blue Ridge Scouting History Project. Warren has written extensively on early Scouting in our region and has helped preserve this important chapter of community history through archival work, lectures, and exhibits.
