๑ KEETAI ๑
The best metaphor for KEETAI could be described with is that of a controlled explosion. The music is always intense, yet the form in which it keeps you tranquilized by the sound ranges from that of wind to that of a hurricane. The mystery of this sound lies in the sludgy drones performed on both guitars and synths and combined with martial-sounding drums. This combination, of tar and razors cutting through it, of soil and shovel, of smoke and bangs, creates a unique atmosphere of anesthetized alertness.
The new release titled 'Seraphic Distortion' marks an ethnofuturistic shift in KEETAI's sound. Consisting of nine tracks, it draws upon a wide array of genres with its sound ranging from power ambient to noise and gqom, meshing them together and diving beyond. The plethora of genres featured in the release is underlined by the monolithic and well-expressed locus of imagery that consists of blurry visions of rust, swamps, cracked concrete and slums, which follow throughout each of the tracks. While the sound might range from seismic, fast-paced and intense to rather calm and detached, it never parts with a shade of numbness and thus the tunes always read like an echoing prayer to technological and industrial decay.
