KCA Dance Code of Conduct 2024
CODE OF CONDUCT AND SOCIAL STANDARDS
GENERAL REGULATIONS
Because we are trying to maintain a safe, respectful, and appropriate environment for everyone at the event, we ask everyone to observe the following behavior guidelines. If we notice someone behaving in a way that is detrimental to this type of environment, that behavior will addressed appropriately by an adult chaperone. Continued disrespectful or inappropriate behavior will ultimately result in the student being asked to leave the facility premises. The following regulations are to be followed by attendees:
You must be high school age to attend this dance. (Age 14 by Sept. 1, 2024.)
Teens are to stay inside the building or on the deck above while the event is occurring. Students may not linger or loiter in the parking lots or on the patio below. If students leave the property, they may not return to the event.
Principles of appropriate behavior will be expected and these guidelines and the decisions of all chaperones are to be respected.
Dancing is to be tasteful. Chaperones have the right to make corrections and/or ask an attendee to leave.
There will be no close body contact dancing or inappropriate physical displays of affection. Students are requested to refrain from public displays of affection. If behavior is determined to be inappropriate, students will be asked to leave. Same sex coupling is not allowed. No refunds will be given.
No outside foods, beverages, alcohol, illegal drugs of any kind, tobacco products or smoking will be allowed.
This is a semi-formal event for mature students, and attendees are to responsibly care for the rented facility. There will be no running, rough-housing or playing of sports in the facility.
Any damage caused to public or private property will be the responsibility of the student Involved.
The dance will end promptly at 11:00. All teens must be picked up or must leave by 11:00pm.
Dress Code
Our dress code provides standards to insure a modest, well-groomed appearance for all students. While fashion trends change frequently, it is up to the discretion of the chaperones whether specific clothing meets the modesty requirements or becomes a distraction to the dance environment.
Ladies:
Dress at all times should be modest and in good taste. Please use discretion to assure your selection is tasteful and above reproach. This is a semi-formal/formal dance.
- Dress for this event can include both long and shorter dresses.
- No visible undergarments—appropriate undergarments should be worn but should not show.
- No dresses/skirts shorter than fingertip length when standing straight up.
- Slits in dresses may be no higher than 5 inches above the kneecap.
- Strapless dresses are allowed, but remember that you will be moving! Strapless or off-the-shoulder tops or dresses should be selected carefully to ensure modesty.
- Partially open backs are acceptable but should be chosen in good taste.
- Dresses should be chosen that are not low cut in the front. Lower cuts in the chest areas are inappropriate and not acceptable for this dance. Dresses that show cleavage and are too low will not be admitted into the dance.
Gentlemen:
- Appropriate attire for this event includes dress slacks with a button-down shirt, a tie or a jacket or a suit and a tie.
- Remember the young ladies are wearing semi-formal dresses, so please dress in a corresponding fashion.
- Jackets and ties may be removed during dancing.
- Jeans are not suitable for this event.
- No t-shirts or athletic clothing of any kind are suitable for this event.
The overall goal is for everyone to have an enjoyable and memorable evening. It is uncomfortable for both the chaperones and attendees to correct attire outside of the dress code. Please make sure that you are within the above guideline as these standards will be upheld. If you have questions about your attire, please ask before the dance.
Facilities
Students are expected to be good stewards of the physical resources at the building. They are also expected to be models of good citizenship by keeping the facility clean and refraining from actions that are destructive to the property or disrespectful to others.
Students are permitted to be in the dance section of the clubhouse, the roof of the clubhouse, and bathrooms. There are some areas of the building that are “out of bounds” to students at all times. These include, but are not limited to the parking lot, (unless coming and going), the kitchen, and offices. Students will remain under adult supervision while on the premises. Being absent from the dance without the knowledge or permission of parents or KCA staff will be treated as a disciplinary issue.
Please:
- Be kind. Use your words to build each other up, not tear each other down.
- Step in when someone is being treated unfairly. Don’t let injustice continue.
- Know the truth and stand for it.
- Build community, don’t tear it down with words or actions.
