Born in Memphis, Tennessee, and raised in Hernando, Mississippi, KC Johns was immersed in music early on. Named after KC and the Sunshine Band and inspired by artists including Led Zeppelin, Stevie Nicks, and Sheryl Crow, Johns formed a band by the age of 17. In 2017, she packed up her guitar and headed for Nashville, singing on Broadway stages before landing an opportunity to perform with Carnival Cruise Lines. What was meant to be a six-month contract turned into several years of international touring, honing her stage presence, and connecting with global audiences. KC Johns has built an impressive performance résumé since then. She was featured in Dolly Parton’s Coat of Many Colors at Dollywood, opened for major artists like Luke Bryan, Chris Young, Randy Houser, Trailer Choir, and Morgan Wade, and performed at esteemed events, including Texas Motor Speedway, Big As Texas Festival, HWY 30 Music Fest, and Country Cruisin’.

With dynamic, compelling vocals and an undeniable determination, KC delivers infectious country-rock that feels like a whiskey-soaked night in your favorite honky-tonk. Think Miranda Lambert’s grit, Sheryl Crow’s ease, and Brandi Carlile’s soul, wrapped into a sound that’s both instantly familiar and unmistakably her own.

During the pandemic, KC leaned into livestreaming and social platforms, organically building a devoted international audience that led to performances as far as Norway and beyond. That global reach continues today through national and international touring, including appearances in the UK and Europe. In 2022, she released her digital debut album Thunderand later launched her own Whiskey, Thunder Mesquite Smoked Bourbon Whiskey, in partnership with Cali Distillery. Distributed nationwide, the bourbon has earned multiple honors, including Best Bourbon and Best of Class at the Sunset International Spirits Competition in 2024 and 2025.

KC Johns turned heads with her viral single “Rodeo Queen,” opening with the unforgettable line, “Mama didn’t raise no big city pretty girl…” A crowd favorite rooted in her own story, the song reflects KC’s upbringing in rodeo culture. Raised by a championship barrel-racing mom and a bull-riding stepdad, “Rodeo Queen” is a tribute to the grit, love, and legacy that shaped her. “Rodeo Queen” has surpassed 1.9 million streams, climbed to #28 on Texas Country Radio, earned Top 10 honors from the Texas Country Music Association, and was added to Amazing Radio’s Country Road Featured Playlist.

Building on that momentum, KC Johns kicked off 2025 with “Break From The Heart,” a road-written country rocker co-written with Tim Angsten and Tim Baumgartner. The song connected with fans navigating heartbreak and healing, delivered with Johns’ signature honesty and hope. In Fall 2025, she released “Best Seat in the House,” which climbed to #2 on the CDX Positive Country Chart, and was co-written with Baumgartner, Angsten, and Colin Cross. A deeply personal tribute to her late grandfather, the song blends heartfelt storytelling with country soul, honoring the lasting bond between artist and muse and the loved ones who are always watching from the best seat. Wanting to share the moment with her audience, Johns announced her “Best Seat in the House” campaign in late 2025, inviting fans to share who has been their greatest inspiration when it comes to chasing their dreams.

Riding the energy from her 2025 successes, KC Johns introduces “Bad Perfume,” an upcoming single penned with bandmates Tim Angsten and Tim Baumgartner, releasing February 6. Arriving with an accompanying music video, the track is a smoky, dangerous rocker driven by bold guitars and sultry rhythm, capturing the intoxicating rush of a love that smelled sweet at first but turned sharp and unforgettable. A breakup anthem haunted by memory and swagger, “Bad Perfume” lingers like a scent that keeps pulling the past back in.

As KC Johns looks ahead, her path is clear: more music, more miles, and more moments shared with fans around the world. Currently touring, Johns is bringing her signature blend of honesty, grit, and soulful storytelling to festival stages and intimate venues across the United States and internationally. Whether performing live, sharing her Thunder whiskey, or crafting songs straight from the heart, KC Johns remains grounded in connection, dedicated to creating experiences that resonate with her audience.
