KAYA: The Temple DancerClassical Dance was nurtured in the temples of India by Girls and Women who surrendered to the service of divinity through Dance. They were known as Temple Dancers.
Classical Dance styles around the world have showcased this concept in their productions.
“Kaya” is a Temple Dancer who has given her life to nurture her art form of Classical Dance in the temple precincts. Her Dance is her offering to the Lord, by which she hopes to unite with him.
Mythili Zatakia is a Professional Dancer practicing Classical Ballet, Bharata Natyam, and Contemporary Dance. Through these three styles of Dance, she assumes the role of KAYA to illustrate love, devotion, and passion in three separate acts for her character to ultimately unite with the Lord she worships through Dance.
This is a Contemporary take on the illustration of love through Classical Art.
In an hour-long show comprising three acts, KAYA uses three distinct art forms to carry the audience into the sanctum of temples that metamorphose as modern-day studios to communicate the history, relevance, and ultimate goal of Art - love, feeling, striving, and triumph.
This show is being organized as a special fundraising evening in support of the MOC Cancer Care Foundation (MOCF) towards financial Assistance for Low-Income Patients undergoing life-saving cancer treatment & HPV Vaccination for 200+ Adolescent Girls to prevent cervical cancer.
The evening will feature a powerful dance recital by emerging artist Mythili Zatakia, with narration by Sanjay Jha, and will serve as both a celebration and a call to action.
