One of the best day walks in the country and only happening once a year, the Puketi Forest Kauri Challenge is an annual fundraising event organised by the Puketi Forest Trust. Choose either a full 21km tramp or a shorter 12km tramp through some of the most spectacular parts of Puketi Forest. The route passes through a diverse range of forest types, includes varied terrain, huge stands of mature Kauri, flora and fauna and stunning views, and ends with a picnic reception at Forest Pools for a swim in the Waipapa river!
This is called a challenge walk for a reason! Some of the walk can be quite tough going and it includes a river crossing and some steep areas so a good level of fitness and some tramping experience are needed.
$65 for the 21km walk
$75 for the 12km walk which includes a 4WD ride to the 12km start line.
$10 shuttle for return trip to the carpark at the start line.
All funds raised go toward the work of the Puketi Forest Trust in restoring Puketi Forest to it's former glory with an abundance of native birds and wildlife. Oho Mai Puketi!
Share this with your friends to make it a social occasion and so we can make it the best year yet!
