Dear Friends,We are delighted to invite you to the opening of Tomoe, a solo exhibition by Katsuki Mina, our artist-in-residence at O Sculpture Art Space, Hin Bus Depot, Penang.
In TOMOE, Mina explores the very soul of pigment. Guided by a disciplined process — a single brushstroke extending a circle of pigment — each work allows the material to shape itself. Although the forms appear similar, the textures and contours shift with every pigment and every environment, making each piece one of a kind.
This exhibition presents two contrasting series: works created in Japan and new pieces produced during her residency in Penang. Together, they reflect a dialogue between material and place, tradition and the present, evoking the spirit of the Tomoe — the ancient Japanese symbol associated with balance, the soul, and the Taoist yin-yang.
