A night of experiential learning and FUNdraising supporting those experiencing homelessness in Mankato!
Don't miss out on Mankato's next great fundraising event! Come as an individual or gather your friends and co-workers and form a team of up to 7 to spend the night of April 25th sleeping out to raise funds for Connections Shelter, learn about homelessness in Mankato, and compete with other groups to raise the most!
Raise Funds!
Set a minimum goal of raising $500 per team. When your team meets it’s goal you earn a "You were housed" card! You're $25 registration fee is included in your donation total.
Network for donated items!
Throughout the event, teams can work to collect items to be dropped off. Items you collect will be included in your total raised. Items to be collected include individually wrapped snacks, coffee, powdered drink mix (lemonade, ice tea, Gatorade) toilet paper, and loose change. All items collected will be used at Connections shelter.
Sleep Out!
The hours of 10pm to midnight are designed to have an experience of trying to rest outside. Your team will have an opportunity to build a shelter or set up a tent but pack a backpack of supplies to bring with you. Tents or sleeping bags must be your own.
Plan to arrive at Bethlehem Lutheran Church parking lot between 5 p.m.-6 p.m. for check. Determine how you will sleep out for the evening and plan accordingly. Your options are 1. Building a shelter 2. Using a tent 3. Sleeping in your car or 4. Out in the elements. Some basic materials will be provided for those wishing to build a shelter. These are all ways that people experiencing homelessness regularly spend the night here in Mankato.
Summary
The evening will be one of learning, new experiences, fundraising and support for the unhoused in Mankato. Together we can come together and support those experiencing homelessness in Mankato.
Which team will walk away with the team Kato Sleep Out Trophy this year? Which individual will take home our new individual Kato Sleep Out Trophy? It takes the whole community to solve homelessness. Be part of the solution and walk away a winner!
