Guest artist Kathryn Hunter will be giving a virtual artist talk on March 3, at 1:50 pm. Everyone is welcome to join us for this talk using the following link: https://us.bbcollab.com/guest/2eb23020d1d8493f9f0705c78cc6f180
Kathryn Hunter uses multiple materials to explore subjects through symbolism and visual narration. Animals are characters, like those in the folktale tradition, reflecting on false prophecy, violence and pacification, truth and deception, cultural and wealth idolization, and the erosion of our surroundings. Her work on display in the Allen Priebe Gallery is an observation of America's freedoms while pondering the destructive nature of its people and their reactions to each other, physically and metaphorically. Hunter earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in printmaking from Montana State University, Bozeman in 1999, and a Master of Fine Arts in printmaking from Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge in 2003. Her work has been exhibited across the US. Currently, Hunter operates a letterpress printing business called Blackbird Letterpress in Baton Rouge.
