In the first Oakeshott (formerly Scruton) Lecture of 2025, Professor Kathleen Stock will address the contemporary debate on assisted dying, freedom, and mercy.Professor Kathleen Stock is a distinguished philosopher of aesthetics and the author of four major books as well as countless articles. She was honoured with an OBE in 2021. Formerly a professor at Sussex University, she came to public prominence in 2021, when a cancellation campaign aimed at her position on trans rights led to her resignation. Her case has since become a major bellwether of academic freedom in British universities.
After her lecture, Prof Stock will be joined by Rev'd Professor Nigel
Biggar for a live discussion.
