Through this performance we will show historical changes in Kathak.

Kathak is a classical dance genre from Northern India.
Based in the temples and was performed by worshipers who both lived and worked for the temples. The name ”Kathak” comes from the word ”Katha” which means ”To tell”.
Through this dance genre the performers were able to explain what was being read from the Holy Scriptures, about the Gods, their appearance and symbolism.
During the Mughal reign in Northern India such performances were taking out of the temple practices and into the palaces as entertainment for the Royal family. The dance then took on a new form involving love and description.
Areas such as Lucknow influence the music; and there are many forms within this dance genre, which also include the areas of Banaras and Jaipur.
The Hindu traditions returned after the fall of the Mughal reign and today's Kathak dance genre has maintained a mix of both styles; that of Hindu and Muslim.
