Neo-traditionalist musician Kate MacLeod is an award-winning songwriter, fiddle player, and guitarist. She also performs with the Appalachian lap dulcimer. Expect to hear her original songs, covers, and fiddle tunes that range from Celtic to Kenny Baker. She lives in both the mountains of Utah, and in Harpers Ferry, WV. Kate was chosen for the Best of the West Award, 2019, by the Far-West division of the Folk Alliance International. Her current projects include recording new renditions of songs by the American folk musician, Kentucky-born Jean Ritchie. Since her first recording (produced by Charles Sawtelle of the Bluegrass band Hot Rize) her songs have been recorded by other artists from California to the Czech Republic. Musicians such as Laurie Lewis and Mollie O’Brien sing her songs regularly, and Tim O’Brien produced Kate’s Blooming recording with an all-star band in Nashville. This year, Laurie Lewis recorded Kate’s song, Blooming, for her upcoming recording release.
Kate has toured in the United States, Canada, Belgium, Holland, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Italy, and the UK. Joining Kate will be Paul Hammerton on guitar and vocals. Paul is a native of the UK and former teacher, but has been living in Virginia for many years and can often be found playing in Old-Time bands for festivals and dances.
Bassist John Bryant was born and raised in West Virginia, studied music education at West Virginia University, and is a full-time teacher.
