After years of being asked about where to find my music on recording, I'm finally releasing my first full length album of original Country songs. On November 8th I'll be performing the full album live with the band - for the first time. The album, titled Longing & Dreaming, is a collection of songs about love, loss, grief, and dreams, all dressed up in Classic Country fashion.
The band is chock full of some of my favourite pals, and the Ottawa area’s best musicians. Stuart Rutherford will be on pedal steel, Matt Aston on drums, Nathan Smith on fiddle, Brent Weatherall on guitar, and Chris Breitner on bass. We'll also be joined by Brianna Herdman on trumpet, and Leeny Jones and Chloe Laberge on vocal harmonies.
Singer-songwriter Campbell Woods will be opening the show with a set of his contemplative Folk songs that are rooted in tradition, yet reflect a contemporary life.
Come celebrate the release of Longing & Dreaming (and my 40th birthday!) at what we promise will be a fun and truly entertaining evening full of local talent. Vinyls and download cards will be available for purchase!

Kate Greenland is a Country, Bluegrass, and Folk singer-songwriter from Ottawa ON, currently living in Wakefield QC. For over 10 years Kate has co-organized Bluegrass Wednesdays (formerly Bluegrass Mondays), a community-oriented evening that showcases different Bluegrass bands in Ottawa. Her Bluegrass band, The Monroe Sisters, is a regular performer. She also co-hosts The Folk Collusion in Wakefield, a weekly folk night featuring herself, Rob Clarke, and various guests. Collaborating and facilitating music for other artists, as well as for audiences, continues to be something that inspires her.
When performing her original compositions she is praised for her poignant lyrics which seem both novel and familiar all at once, making her music simultaneously fresh and timeless. Her voice has been described as pure, clear, and classic. Her years of performing and hosting has informed her natural and easy stage presence, endearing all manner of audiences.

Campbell pays attention. He’s been doing it for years in the bars of the Ottawa Valley, festivals and halls across Eastern Ontario, the whole map of Halifax music venues: The Carleton, The Company House, Gus’ Pub etc…plus sitting in and jamming with and opening for friends from across Canada. He sings and plays guitar, most of the time he can cover bass and keys, too.
Along the way, Campbell paid attention to mentors: Brian Kobayakawa, Lynn Miles, Marcus Mosely, Drew Gonsalves. He paid close attention to the legends: Townes Van Zandt, Gram Parsons, Linda Ronstadt.
His record, Oxford Street, testifies to a sound that is contemporary while evoking the weathered qualities of his many homes (the Fundy Shore, Lanark County, downtown Halifax, Ottawa, Victoria).
His songs are all about attention paid and stories revealed. They are his stories and his songs, but an evening with Campbell Woods is an invitation to be reminded of your stories, our stories, and how they all echo around the room when truth is told.
