Join us this month for The Book of Light Poetry Series: Karla Brundage, Audrey T. Williams and Jackie Graves, reading from current and new works of poetry.
Karla Brundage is a Bay Area based poet, activist, and educator. A Pushcart Prize nominee, Fulbright teacher she has performed her work nationally and internationally. Her poetry, short stories and essays can be found in Tribes, Konch, Hip Mama, Bamboo Ridge Press, and WriteNow. She is the founder of West Oakland to West Africa Poetry Exchange (WO2WA.) which has facilitated cross-cultural exchange between Oakland and West African poets. Jackie Graves is the bestselling author of the anthologies Intuitive Goddess and Priestess of Lemuria. Her work has also appeared in Hip Mama, The Sun, Bum Rush the Page: A Def Poetry Jam. After 20 years as a Professor of English and Creative Writing at Laney College and 30+ years in the education space. Her latest book “The Holy Grail Codes: The 7 Keys of Soul Liberation, a Guide for Awakening Lightworkers” shares stories and tools for all those who want to create a better world and are ready to do the deep inner work to bring it to light.
Audrey T. Williams, MFA is a Black American and Indo-Burmese poet, writer, and curator who has been deeply involved in the intersection of literary arts and wellness. She is Founder at Ancestral Futures. Audrey is Co-chair for the upcoming 2026 World Fantasy Convention to be held in Oakland. Her writing can be found in Lightspeed Magazine, Space & Time Magazine, Conjuring Worlds: An Afrofuturist Textbook, the Amherst Writers' Association's Peregrine Journal.
