About this Event
Celebrate the tenacity of the human spirit with this moving picture book about Lakshmi, a young girl who learns to brave a snowy Minnesota winter after immigrating from tropical Guyana. Enjoy a read-aloud of the book followed by delicious Guyanese treats and a chance to have your books signed by the author!
To attend: This event is open to the public, but registration helps us when considering spatial constraints. You can register for a ticket for free through December 7, 9:00am, and order the book on . Additional copies of Snow Steps will be available for purchase during the event, but preordering guarantees your copy.
Signing Guidelines: Following the event, Karen will sign and personalize copies of the book. If you would prefer not to stay for the signing portion, Red Balloon can have your books signed and personalized for you and will contact you when they're ready to be picked up.

Karen Latchana Kenney is an Indian-Irish children’s author, born in Guyana and raised in Minnesota. She, too, was once afraid of the snow, but now she sees its quiet beauty on her walks in the woods. Karen writes fiction and nonfiction stories for kids and adults about immigrant and biracial experiences, science, and history. Snow Steps is her first picture book.
