Please join us for an afternoon of Finnish kantele music and tradition at the library! Sheila Coughlin and Diane Jarvi will perform songs they are working on together as part of a kantele mentorship funded by a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board.The kantele is a Finnish lap harp with traditions that are over 2,000 years old. It is the national instrument of Finland. Come learn about its rich history and enjoy the beautiful songs of Finland. Sheila and Diane are honored to share this music and tradition with you.
Sheila Coughlin is a fiscal year 2024 recipient of a Creative Individuals grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board. This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
