Mark your calendars! The Kansas Museum of History officially reopens on Saturday, November 22, 2025. Join us for a special reopening event featuring musical performances, roaming entertainers, food trucks, and plenty of photo opportunities. Hear from VIP speakers including Patrick Zollner, KSHS executive director; and Sarah Bell, museum director.Admission to the museum will be FREE Saturday, November 22 and Sunday, November 23. The museum will be open on Sunday 1-5 p.m.
Event Schedule:
9 a.m. – Lobby doors open to the public
9:30 a.m. – Lawrence Children’s Choir performance; and speeches from VIP speakers
10 a.m. – Ribbon cutting ceremony; and KU mascot appearance
11 a.m. – Lem Sheppard musical performance
1 p.m. – John Brown Boys musical performance; and Washburn mascot appearance
3 p.m. – Maria the Mexican musical performance
Roaming entertainers will be present throughout the day. These guests include Dennis Rogers, Navajo educator; Stan Herd, muralist; KU and Washburn college mascots; Jim Sands, Buffalo Soldier reenactor; Civil War reenactors; and Wizard of Oz characters.
