Here’s what the day will include...
Parent Rights in Special Education - We will take a step-by-step look at the special education process with an emphasis on parental rights.
The Individualized Education Program (IEP) - We’ll begin with the basics - what an IEP is, brainstorming and preplanning, and understanding the various parts of the IEP, from developing the present levels to determining the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE).
Transition to Adulthood - This is a must for parents with youth ages 14 or older. You will discover how transition planning as part of the IEP can prepare your child for life after high school.
Lunch
Lunch and materials will be provided plus a child care voucher for families that attend the training from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
