"Grow what you can, harvest what you need."
It's time for another Working Bee & Potluck!
Join us on the last Sunday afternoon of the month and as always, everyone is welcome.
Our gardens are bound only by three simple principles:
"1. Nobody owns the garden.
This garden and the food grown in it is the collective responsibility of the community that lives around it. It is a part of the commons. There is no owner, no boss, just a community making collective decisions about their local neighbourhood.
2. The food is free.
The food grown in this garden isn’t owned, so it can never be sold. It’s free for people who need it—and the people who need it most should take the most. Nobody makes any money from this garden.
3. Mistakes are welcome.
Gardens are forgiving. Nothing really matters that much. It’s better to garden and make mistakes than not garden at all."
We'll begin at 3pm and will eat around 6pm.
Jobs List (not limited to - we welcome ideas):
- Lawn mowing & Whipper snipping
- weeding & pest control
- water the garden & fruit trees
- turn the compost
- restructure garden beds and rows
- prune pigeon pee and use excess
- Use compost for garden
- plant seedlings for raised beds
- plant seeds to raise into seedlings
- redirect vines
- decorate (make-over scarecrows, make signs etc.)
- general cleaning and tidying
No experience, skills or tools are required but feel free to bring them along.
There's always plenty of food and good people to chat to even if you're just dropping in to say hi.
If you'd like to join the composting roster (helping regularly turn the compost) or the watering roster (currently most days are covered) please let us know.
