The Quintet will showcase their award-winning 2nd album, 'The Devils Voodoo Curse' and their acclaimed debut, 'Blues for Minnie', plus selected blues favourites and new original material.Their new album, “The Devil’s Voodoo Curse,” won the VICTAS Blues Music Award for Emerging Artists and has charted in the top 3 on the ABARAC Independent Blues Charts after debuting at #11. Kaliopi and The Blues Messengers, finalists in this year’s MBAS Annual Blues Challenge, released their second 10-track blues album, “The Devil's Voodoo Curse,” for their performance at the 2024 Echuca-Moama Winter Blues Festival, which is currently nominated for the MBAS VIC/TAS music awards.
“They have a solid sound, demonstrating tightness as they present the listener with an old-time set of tunes infused with a fresh perspective,” said Blues Blast Magazine Senior Writer Steve Jones, president of the Crossroads Blues Society USA.
Expanding on the half-time feel to include rumba, shuffles, and Hammond, the Blues Messengers deliver old-school tunes blended with upbeat originals. They tell stories from another time that still resonate. The seasoned quintet, which accompanies Kaliopi on vocals and guitar, consists of Greg Rowan on drums, Mal Sedegreen on Alto Sax & Melodian, Wayne Albury Tenor Sax & Clarinet, Paul Leeder on bass, and Brendon Price on Hammond.
