Sunday, March 21
12:00 - 2:30pm with Ganga Devi
Throughout Kali Natha Yoga run two primary systems of alignment: The Seven Points of Concentration and The Eleven Spaces of Pure Tantric Alignment and Balance. These principles of alignment are both physical - that is, they are happening in the body - and mental - that is, they require an engaged understanding and awareness of what is going on inside you as your body moves. It’s a direct and personal experience.
In Kali Natha Yoga, a lineage of yoga handed down by Ma Jaya Sati Bhagavati, the wisdom of the asanas is experienced in the movements of the body with an aware mind awakened to the mystical dimensions underlying the movements. In this workshop, we’ll review and practice these two systems of alignment and refine our awareness of how we encounter them when we practice Kali Natha Yoga. We’ll discuss how yoga teachers might consider integrating them into their classes.
This workshop is perfect for yoga students and yoga teachers curious about Kali Natha Yoga, generally or the practice of Kali Natha alignment, specifically. Students enrolled in Kashi Atlanta’s Kali Natha Yoga 300 Hour Teacher Training program will obtain 2.5 hours credit toward the completion of their hours.
By deepening your awareness of these systems of alignment, students will come away with the ability to deepen their experiential encounter of Kali Natha Yoga. In Ma’s words, "With awareness, the mystical dimensions of Kali Natha Yoga are more likely to become an actuality". Students will come away feeling a sense of accomplishment, personally empowered to develop their experiential encounter with these profound spiritual tools, as well as practical suggestions for how to integrate these principles of alignment into their personal practice and yoga instruction.
