We are excited to release the finalised programme for our second annual Kaimanawa Legacy Championships, held at the National Equestrian Centre in Taupō from 31 January–1 February 2026.This year’s event also proudly incorporates the inaugural Taupo Contact CARE - Scott Inskeep Stallion Makeover and Yearling Makeover, featuring horses saved with public funds from the 2025 July Muster. It’s an incredible opportunity to see these once-wild horses showcase just how far they’ve come in such a short time.
The Championships feature horsemanship, obstacles, jumping, dressage, and freestyle classes for:
Kaimanawa horses,
Far North wild horses, and
All Breeds
This is one of the most heartfelt weekends on our calendar, where our Kaimanawa community comes together to inspire, to connect, and to celebrate our shared love of New Zealand’s wild horses. It is also a wonderful opportunity for owners of other breeds to experience the quality, versatility, and talent of the Kaimanawa horse firsthand, and hopefully inspire future rehoming and advocacy.
Entries for all classes close mid-January, and the full programme is attached. Email [email protected] to enter.
This event is designed to be inclusive, supportive, and fun, a true celebration of all things horsey.
We can’t wait to see you there.
