Standing up for the fight against breast cancer in October! Kaia FIT Sierra is hosting its annual clothing exchange from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, at our West Reno studio (6160 Mae Anne Ave. #1). (This will happen in conjunction with our end-of-BRIK awards at 1 p.m.)
All proceeds from this event benefit Moms on the Run, which provides support for everyday living expenses including (but not limited to) mortgages, rent, food, utilities, car expenses, insurance, and more to help offset medical expenses and alleviate financial stress of Northern Nevada women diagnosed with breast or gynecological cancer.
Everyone is welcome--but this event will offer only women's clothing (all kinds, including workout wear).
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE A KAIA FIT SIERRA MEMBER TO PARTICIPATE. THIS IS A PUBLIC EVENT.
Clean out your closet and offer your gently-used clothing up so that your fellow Kaia girls can give them new life! AND you may find a few cute things for yourself. :)
Please, no accessories, shoes or undergarments.
HERE'S HOW IT WILL WORK:
CLOTHING DROP-OFF: Starting the week of Oct. 20, you can drop off bags of women's clothing at any of Kaia FIT Sierra's studios (South Reno, Midtown, Sparks and West Reno) during regular class times through Friday, Oct. 24. MAKE IT EASY: If you have a bag that's full of clothes that are all around the same size, please label the bag that way. It will make sorting before the event that much easier. :)
COST: We're requesting that a minimum $10 donation be made directly to Moms on the Run to attend this event at https://www.momsontherun.info/donate-to-the-cause. Include "Kaia FIT Sierra Clothing Exchange" in the note section when donating for tracking purposes. We'll also offer ways to donate at the event (cash or Venmo/Zelle). Your donation goes to a wonderful cause, and you get to take as many clothes as you want!
VOLUNTEERS WANTED: Can you help us sort clothes starting at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, at the West Reno studio? Don't worry, we'll have a very simple system in place, but as always, the more helping hands, the better! Plus, volunteers get first pick of clothes! (Volunteers are also welcome at clean-up at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25.)
WHAT HAPPENS TO THE LEFTOVER CLOTHING? They will be gathered up and donated to the Domestic Violence Resource Center on Plumb Lane in Reno. If there is more than DVRC can accept, we'll divide the remaining clothing amongst local charities as appropriate.
