You and your dojo members are warmly invited to join us for our 17th Annual Kagami Biraki, our “Renewal of the Martial Spirit.”This is a FREE training and fellowship event.
Please RSVP to [email protected] by so we can ensure we have enough food for all.
Kagami Biraki, “Mirror Opening,” is a traditional Japanese celebration held in many dojos in early January so students can come together at the start of the year. The custom goes back to samurai households in the 15th century and was brought into modern budo in 1884 when Jigoro Kano began holding Kagami Biraki at the Kodokan.
Since then, many arts such as aikido, karate, and jujutsu have observed Kagami Biraki as a time to refresh training goals and recommit to the martial spirit for the coming year.
We would be honored to have you with us.
In friendship and budo,
Darrin & Thomasina McGowan
