Introductory Day Retreat: Getting Started with Oil Painting 🖼️ 🎨 Join us for a full day of creative exploration as we dive into the fundamentals of oil painting. You’ll learn how to work with water-soluble oil paints and oil sticks, as well as how to incorporate a variety of techniques into your practice.
We’ll cover essential topics such as composition and color theory, along with techniques for creating the illusion of depth through value, color, and shape. Together, we’ll explore the relationships between figure and ground, positive and negative space, and warm and cool colors—all while weaving in a touch of art history for inspiration.
Whether you’re brand new to oil painting or looking to refresh your skills, this retreat offers a well-rounded, hands-on foundation to help you begin your artistic journey.
Together, we’ll pause midday to share a nourishing lunch, giving us time to recharge, connect, and refuel—so we can return to our easels with fresh energy and keep painting the day away.
