On occasion of Rita Reys' 100 birthday Jurjen Donkers and his quintet will celebrate the life and musical legacy of Europe's First Lady of Jazz, live at Sociëteit De Witte. Twenty five ago Rita herself was at De Witte for the presentation of her album The Lady Strikes Again that came out on occasion of her 75th birthday. The first copy of the album was handed to her by Dutch prime minister Wim Kok, who was a big fan of Rita's.
Tonight the Jurjen Donkers Quintet will perform both Rita's best known tunes and their own favorites from her extensive repertoire. Be prepared for a night of swing!
