About this Event
This is a 6 week class that teaches children how to effectively "read", through body language cues, what a dog is saying. With the focusing being on bite prevention and safety around dogs, with both family and stranger dogs.
Learning objectives for this class:
- Learning to ask permission to pet a dog.
- Learn and Understand k-9 body language
- Leash handling skills and other basic cues
- Consent testing and preference testing
- Respecting boundaries
- Types of reinfores and markers and what theses mean in training
- Daily care and maintenance for dogs- how your child, realistically, be part of raising a dog.
Parents MUST be with their child at all times. This in NOT a drop off class and parents must be willing to help their child, if needed. First class is orientation and dogs are not permitted during this first class. Dogs attending class must be friendly and up to date on vaccinations (must provide proof).
