Join us for a community celebration of Juneteenth with art, music, and good company!
Throughout the day, the museum will come alive with DJs, live performances, and hands-on art making. Plus, grab a free museum ticket from our community partner tables.
Juneteenth marks a history of delayed freedom, and an ongoing story of Black resilience, creativity, and joy. This celebration is an invitation to honor the legacy of the past, present, and future.
noon–4 pm
Free to Be: Legacy Starts with Me fabric collage workshop
Through fabric and color, build a portrait that reflects who you are with collage artist, Moët McClain. This is a space to show up as you are, honor what you carry, and celebrate the legacy you’re creating.

Capture the moment with our community partner, Youth in Focus, Seattle's only photography-based youth development organization.

1–3:15 pm | Sa Sa Ye Steel Performance
Courtesy of The Seattle Steel Pan Project, be captivated by the rhythms and sounds of the steel pan, an instrument originating in Trinidad & Tobago.
DJ sets
Take a sonic journey through the history of electronic music, including Soulful House, Techno, Hip-hop, and R&B with four local BIPOC DJs from Seattle's electrifying club scene.
12–1 pm | Knosubz
Founder of the collective Cuethemusic.fm, DJ, music producer, and curator, Knosubz delivers a powerful blend of fast-paced, dynamic energy through an eclectic mix of Club, Juke, House, and Techno, honoring and preserving the soul of Black dance music.
1–2 pm | Cousin Chris
DJ and producer Cousin Chris is known for bouncy, high-energy sets that blend house, club, techno, R&B, and hip-hop. Since 2016, he’s built a reputation for fast tempos, sharp edits, and unexpected flips designed to keep people moving. Rooted in underground sounds, he’s played across a mix of local and global nightlife spaces, collectives, and platforms.
2–3 pm | Exis
DJ and founder of Ghetto Tech, a platform rooted in the energy and history of underground club music. Known for high-energy sets blending ghetto tech, footwork, club, and house, Exis keeps crowds moving and on their toes. Centering BIPOC and queer communities, DJ Exis is helping shape Seattle’s underground scene through sound, movement, and good vibes.
3–4 pm | Santosaudade
Caribbean-American DJ and producer Santosaudade is known for their dynamic sound that seamlessly bridges scenes, eras, and communities with precision. They specialize in a blend of Hip-Hop/Underground Rap, Black Electronic Club Music, and Global Rhythms to create soul-moving experiences built for both the culture and dancefloor while remaining themselves.
