Our monthly celebration of poetry and the spoken word! Join us on Wednesday 26th June at 8.30pm (doors at 7.30pm) to welcome Kit Fan, Martin Kratz and Lizzi Linklater (and three open-micers). Kit Fan’s third poetry collection The Ink Cloud Reader (2023) was shortlisted for the T.S. Eliot Prize and Forward Prize. He was shortlisted twice for the Guardian 4th Estate BAME Short Story Prize, and a winner of the Hong Kong University International Poetry Prize, Northern Writers Awards for Poetry and Fiction, Times Stephen Spender Poetry Translation Prize, and POETRY’s Editors Prize for Reviewing. His first novel is Diamond Hill (2021).
Kit will be supported by two exciting voices:
Martin Kratz’s reviews and translations from the German have appeared in various journals and in the anthology The Heart of a Stranger: An Anthology of Exile Literature (Pushkin Press, 2019). He is the co-editor of Mount London: Ascents in the Vertical City (Penned in the Margins, 2014). A pamphlet, A Skeleton’s Progress (Poetry Salzburg) was published in 2018. He has new work in After Sylvia: Poems and essays in celebration of Sylvia Plath (Nine Arches, 2022).
Lizzi Linklater lectures, runs writing groups, creates events and writes poetry, fiction and scripts. She’s worked collaboratively with MIND, STEM, medical practitioners, artists and musicians. She designed, implemented and taught the Postgraduate Writing programme for the University of York, Centre for Lifelong Learning. Her poetry has been set to music in the Wax Lyrical Project and she is published in Dream Catcher, Circa Works, Tears in the Fence, Colours of the Moon, Lives Remembered and elsewhere.
