(HARS TARMAC DAYS Fri 12, Sat 13 and Sun 14 JULY)
Cockpits will be open for visitors to get up close and personal with a range of classic aircraft during the next Tarmac Days at HARS Aviation Museum on Friday, Saturday and Sunday 12-14 July.
While open every day for visitors, the monthly Tarmac Days allow volunteer guides and engineers to showcase a selection of the almost 60 amazing historic aircraft on display.
Cockpits open to visitors include the former cold war MIG fighter jets 15, 17 and 21, a former RAN Grumman Tracker, a Huey Cobra helicopter gunship, a former RAN Wessex helicopter and a Neptune submarine hunter.
Visitors also can walk through the world’s only flying Lockheed Super Constellation “Connie”, the double record-setting former Qantas Boeing 747-400, a former RAN Queen’s Flight Dakota and a classic Fokker Friendship airliner.
In addition, July Tarmac Days visitors will see heavy maintenance underway to keep our Lockheed Neptune, Connie and Catalina in the stable of more than 20 aircraft which are airworthy … something which makes HARS Aviation Museum such a special place to attend.
Also on display is the beautifully restored and now flying Southern Cross Replica plus former RAAF fighters Vampire, Sabre, Mirage and F-111 jets.
HARS Aviation Museum is open from 9.30 to 3.30 daily (Closed only on Christmas Day) for tours hosted by informative volunteer guides (last tour 2 pm). It is located at Shellharbour Airport, off the old Princes Highway at Albion Park Rail and just a short walk from the railway station.
Visitors can also drop into Café Connie (9.30 am to 2 pm) where the menu offers a great value selection of delicious hot and cold foods plus excellent coffee.
