About this Event

This program is open for NYC School district 6 students enrolled in grades 6th - 8th.

It combines mountain bike trail stewardship and off-road skills to build a core community of youth cyclists, and trail advocates around the trails at Highbridge park.

  • Trail Stewardship: Students must come with a desire to learn, build, explore, and get dirty! Students will help create and maintain trails and terrain park features through tasks including digging, raking, and grading.
  • Bike Skills Clinics: Students must be able to ride a bicycle, and demonstrate mounting, pedaling, and stopping to enroll in the program. The certified mountain bike instructors will teach students how to navigate challenging trails and terrain on their mountain bikes through skill drills, clinics, and riding on their local trails. For kids who cannot yet ride a bicycle, enroll in a learn to ride program at:
  • The program provides elite-level helmets and ultralight mountain bikes built specifically for kids. Students with perfect attendance will be gifted the helmet to keep.
  • Participants should wear wear comfortable clothing and sturdy shoes that are appropriate for the weather. We recommend participants bring plenty of water, and a bagged lunch to eat during the 12-12:30 PM lunch break.
