Shannon Mello - Arcus
There’s something special with the very edge of a cloud. It’s blurry, it’s pronounced, it’s a mixture of both. Like everyone, I am busy doing all sorts of things, running errands, dropping the kids off at school, and tending to daily life. But it’s in those moments, in my car, that I also see things that catch my eye, and often it’s in the clouds. While trying to capture the illustration of these beautiful formations and light, in my mind I’m cropping out the side of a building, my windshield, the telephone poles. It’s a mess. It’s a lovely, beautiful mess. It’s trying to cut through the noise of the world while looking at the fog rising. It’s trying to ignore the traffic while watching the lightning racing across the sky. It’s all here. The background of these paintings includes a very human-made texture, sometimes mechanical. The foreground is the quiet gentle lift of every type of cloud I tend to obsess over. Enjoy these expressions of the natural world that still inspire me every day. Without the blur of my windshield, but the slight “noise” of human-made inspirations underneath.
Sean O'Meallie - Small Batch Book Making from the Wood Book Encyclopedia Factory near Downtown Colorado Springs
I make colorful wood sculptures with the intention of the sculpture’s intrinsic playfulness and allure.
I’m recontextualizing some ideas about books.
I wanted to comment on Gun Mania in the USA. These are 25 unique handmade wood gun sculptures each with a spring loaded bullet and all crammed in a cookie jar with a ten cent price sticker. The bullet can be pushed back into the gun, but it pops back out. The bullet never leaves the gun. It’s non-lethal gun play at a very attractive price.
Sean O’Meallie is from New Orleans, Louisiana but has lived in near the base of Pikes Peak for almost 50 years. He has a background in higher education and toy invention, and though he produces large-scale public works on occasion, he prefers making small one-of-a-kind works usually in painted wood in his home studio where he plays with existentialist dread and human comedy to popular effect using what he learned in the toy business and that one semester as a Psych major.

The Birdy Bunch – Robert Lococo
An off-the-wall show that continues a story of playful curiosity. (Featuring art that is both on and off the walls).
Inspired by movies like The Aristocats and The Jungle Book I hope to build a Narrative with cooky and curious creatures that reflect us in ways realism can’t. The world is bigger than just birds, thus, I have opened the floodgates and introduced a few new friends of fancy. The potential is endless, so please, engage your inner child: Laugh, giggle, and roll your eyes as you walk through my newest Show: The Birdy Bunch.

Robert has had the pleasure of pursuing art his entire life. He graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and jumped right into a career in art fairs. His inability to sit still for very long has led to a wide range of mediums, including: bronze, concrete, wood, oil paint, acrylic, watercolor, and spray paint. Eventually the draw of friends and family brought him back to Colorado Springs as he continues to sub for art classes of old mentors and pursue art.

Karen Khoury – In Situ
Is a painting only an object that resides in a place of fixed meaning?
In Situ explores art, in this case paintings and how they exist in our domestic environments.
The works in this exhibit are intentionally placed in position, “In Situ.” Inevitably a dialogue/experience is situationally created once a work is placed on a wall, set on a table, or propped on the floor.
Today art is widely viewed through digital representations on our computers, type in any artist’s name and your screen fills up with all their work and a website. Typically on an artist’s site you can find their bio, a list of exhibits and awards, contact, and a gallery of work. Over the past several years many artists have added a new tab called “in situ,” click on this tab and you see their work in an extraordinary environment. There are also in situ apps that provide a created interior environment, just download a picture of your work, click and poof your work exists in this digital environment, complete with the perfect sofa, chair, plants, and lamps. These apps are used more and more by dealers and gallerists as a marketing tool for their clients.
My hope is that this exhibit creates a conversation about where art resides both in reality and virtually.
Lindsay Goss
Self-Study represents the process of embracing individual expression and the beauty that solitude can manifest when learning to build security within oneself. The metaphors of these shadow self-portraits symbolize moments of transformation through embodiment and practicing somatic movement. Lindsay feels this collection of work reflects on the growth that accompanies us when we allow an all-encompassing love into our lives; when we choose to trust ourselves and become familiar with the waves of our grief. It is in these late nights, while casting moving shadows on the walls of her studio, that Lindsay welcomes freedom of expression in the spirit of autonomy.
These studies are a glimpse into a wider scheme of concepts and projects that Lindsay hopes to pursue further in her career as an artist.
