July 11th Paleo Lab Day

The Museums of Western Colorado presents our 2024 Dinosaur Digs Program!

Learn how to repair and clean fossils in the paleo lab! Participants will spend a full day in the Dinosaur Journey Fossil Preparation Lab learning different techniques used to clean and repair fossil bone, from mechanical prep, to molding and casting. Our expert paleontologists will be there to show you the tools and guide you every step of the way. This is a perfect match for enthusiasts and future paleontologists alike. Individual projects may vary depending on availability in the lab.

The minimum age for our Paleo Lab program is 12 years old. All guests 16 and under must be accompanied by a paying adult. All participants must also complete and return a before participating in any of our Dinosaur Digs Programs.

Difficulty: Easy. No hiking or work outdoors, but participants should expect to spend the day sitting and performing small, repetitive tasks on delicate projects.

What to Bring: Expeditioners should wear closed-toed shoes and bring a camera for this indoor adventure.

Please note that lunches are included with our Paleo Lab Program. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email with a link to fill out your preferred lunch order, note any food allergies, etc.

Refund Policy:

•Cancellations prior to 30 days in advance of the expedition date will be refunded at 80% of the dig/expedition cost (total cost, less the 20% non-refundable deposit).

• Cancellations 15 days prior to the expedition date will be refunded at 50%.

• All cancellations within 15 days of the expedition date and all no-shows forfeit full price, and no refunds or credits will be issued for unused portions of the Paleontology Expeditions and Tours.

• If the Museum cancels the expedition due to weather or any other reason we will do our best to make alternate arrangements, reschedule your expedition, or refund your registration in full.
