A moving and witty take on “happy ever after”, with a twist, comes to Tideswell on Thursday 5th March, when a hilarious five-star show visits the village.
Juliet and Romeo did not die! They got married, had a kid and now - deep in their forties - are wondering if it was all a huge mistake. In their cramped flat, they open up to the audience in an awkward therapy-like session spiralling out of control, questioning everything about their lives. They re-stage key moments from their relationship, rehash the past and reveal a few secrets they never dared to share until now.
Forget everything you thought you knew about Shakespeare’s star-crossed lovers. With a signature blend of dance, drama, theatre and laugh-out-loud comedy, Juliet & Romeo is Lost Dog dance / theatre company’s wildly original, deeply relatable, utterly hilarious exploration of love and a long-term relationship in crisis. The funny, frustrating, reality of being in love for the long haul.

Tideswell Theatre have been aching to bring this production to the village since some of the group saw it on its previous toured. Used to arranging top quality and enjoyable shows since 2002, they are so excited that the new tour is opening in the village, one of only seven performances in this country, and the only one in Derbyshire, before it goes on to Europe.
