Known for her hugely successful sketch comedy channel on YouTube, Julie Nolke takes to the stage in a one-hour, one-woman sketch comedy performance directed by Gwynne Phillips. Addressing some dark themes that will undoubtedly have you giggling uncomfortably, Dying on the Outside is Julie’s outlet to share her deepest inner workings all with a hilarious spin. After a sold-out run in Toronto, Julie packed up and took the show on tour! Enjoy a night with classic favs like Mirror Julie, along with never-before-seen sketches that will have you laughing and potentially crying simultaneously.
About Julie Nolke
Julie Nolke is an award-winning Actor, Writer, Filmmaker and the creator of her self-titled comedy YouTube channel (~1 million subscribers). She’s been nominated for two Streamy Awards, won three Webby Awards, and in both 2019 and 2023 won Excellence in Writing at Toronto’s prestigious Buffer Festival. Julie is best known for her viral online series Explaining the Pandemic to my Past Self (~65 million views).
While writing, producing, editing and acting in content for the web, Julie also works in film and TV. Recent credits include: the starring in The Wedding Rule (W Network), Murdoch Mysteries (CBC), What We Do in the Shadows (FX), Coroner (CBC/Apple TV), Odd Squad (PBS), TallBoyz (CBC), the Emmy Award winning Workin’ Moms (CBC/Netflix), and Cabin Connection (Super Channel). Julie can also be seen in the series recurring role of “Sam” on Run the ‘Burbs (CBC/Hulu).

Gwynne Phillips is an award-winning actor, writer, director, and producer based in Toronto. For the stage, she has directed About Time (Toronto Fringe), (An Evening in July (Summerworks), Emotional Labour (Toronto Fringe), and more. Phillips has written and produced several short films, including Dinette which premiered at the Canadian Film Festival, and Alaska which picked up the Grand Prize for “Best Comedy” at JFL NorthWest. She is half of the acclaimed Canadian sketch comedy duo The Templeton Philharmonic with Briana Templeton. Together, the pair wrote the short film The Women’s Hour (CBC Gem) produced by LaRue Entertainment, as well as Canada's first ever Audible original, None of Our Business.
She has appeared in a variety of films and TV shows, including Priscilla (Sofia Coppola), Börje (Crave),Children Ruin Everything (Crave), I Like Movies (Chandler Levack), American Gods (STARZ), Sensitive Skin (HBO Canada), Kim's Convenience (CBC), and The Amazing Gayl Pile (CBC Gem/Amazon Prime/OutTV). Additionally, Phillips has voiced numerous cartoon characters on shows like Paw Patrol (Amazon Prime), Agent Binky: Pets of the Universe (TELETOON+Amazon), Cupcake and Dino General Services (Netflix), and Glowbies (CBC).
As a writer, Phillips has worked on CBC Radio’s The Irrelevant Show, CBC Gem’s True Dating Stories, and more.
