**Please note: this event is now sold out.**
Julia Child changed the way Americans looked at food. She famously said that before she learned to cook, she merely ate. Her cheerful and accessible demeanor and on-screen presence told millions of television viewers over several decades that creating delicious food enhanced one’s appreciation of a good meal. She once said, “I believe in red meat. I've often said: red meat and gin.”
Join the VMHC on August 22nd at 6 PM as we partner with Richmond distillery Virago Spirits for 'Julia Child & the Art of the Cocktail". We will celebrate Child’s legacy with a select menu of cocktails and snacks inspired by her most iconic recipes. Virago Spirits is named for the Hellenistic philosophy of the “virago” - a woman of “great stature, strength, and courage.” Child perfectly embodies this philosophy – a breaker of barriers and challenger of the status quo, and certainly a larger-than-life figure in American culture.
Guests will also have the opportunity to visit the limited-time exhibition, "Julia Child: A Recipe for Life".
Get your tickets at https://secure.virginiahistory.org/3023/3124. Discounts for VMHC Members. (Not a member yet? Join now at VirginiaHistory.org/Join) Please note: this event is for ages 21+.

Julia Child: A Recipe for Life is a touring exhibition produced and managed by FLYING FISH, developed in collaboration with Napa Valley Museum, under the rights granted by The Julia Child Foundation for Gastronomy and Culinary Arts and The Schlesinger Library Radcliffe Institute, Harvard University, and generously supported by Oceania Cruises.
